2 Chronicles 23-25
In our reading today some of the last things David did before he died. David re-organized the duties of the Levites within the tabernacle, because the Tabernacle was no longer carried from place to place by the Levites. Their duties were minimized by the stationary Tabernacle so David reorganized their duties, by the leading of the Spirit of God. One of the duties which was a major change in the way burnt offerings were carried out, that is during the burnt offerings praise and thanksgiving and worship were to take place (2 Chronicles 23:18; 1 Chronicles 23:24-32).
It amazes me how many times it says in Scripture that God wants his people to be in peace, He does not want us to be stressed out and in turmoil. In our reading today is just one of many. John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” It is God’s will that we be at peace in our hearts. I challenge you to search the New Testament and see how many times it says that God wants us to be a peace. Here is ten of them: Romans 1:7; 1 Corinthians 1:3; 2 Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 1:3; Ephesians 1:2; Philippians 1:2; Colossians 1:2; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:2; and Philemon 3.
