2 Chronicles 29-31

In our reading today we have a powerful lesson on giving tithes and offerings (2 Chronicles 31:1-10). After Hezekiah gave the commandment for the people to give tithes and offerings according to the Lord, the when the people obeyed, so great were the amounts of tithes and offerings came in that the priests and Levites had more than enough, because the LORD had blessed his people. Notice the order. The people obeyed the commands to give and God blessed them! Praise God for his faithfulness.

John 18:1-23

In our reading today we have the arrest of Christ Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. During the arrest. Peter cuts off the ear of one of the servants of the high priest (John 18:10, 11). If we only look John’s account we do not have the complete story. The rest of the story is found in Luke 22:49-51 where we see not only did Peter cut off his ear, but Jesus healed him immediately. What a testament to the mercy and forgiveness of God.
