John 7:32-53
On the last day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the Jews were bringing water to the temple from the pool of Siloam in the city of David. They were singing 15 Songs of Ascents, correlating with the 15 steps they would walk. In addition, they quoted Isaiah 12:2-3 “… with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” In the Hebrew, it literally means, “…with joy you will draw water from the wells of Yeshua.” Jesus is the fulfillment of our salvation. Not only has He provided the way to receive eternal life, but He is coming again, bringing a completion to this life. “The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price (Revelation 22:17).”
During this ceremony, Jesus shouts out with a loud voice in front of the crowd, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” Jesus was not shy. He was not always quiet. Jesus shouted so all could hear Him. “IF YOU ARE THIRSTY, COME TO ME AND DRINK!” If you are thirsty – if you know you have a spiritual need and want to be satisfied, Jesus is calling!
Draw what you need from the Christ! He will satisfy, and not only will He satisfy us with life; life will flow from us to others through the Holy Spirit! As a result, many wondered if He was really the promised Messiah. There was division in the crowd, and the Pharisees spoke against Jesus. Nicodemus was there, the Pharisee that came to Jesus in the night, and he spoke up for Him, saying that He shouldn’t be judged before hearing Him and learning what He is doing.
