Mark 15:27-47
The Scripture from Isaiah 53:12 was fulfilled that said, “He was numbered with the transgressors.” Jesus was considered a transgressor, a sinner, because He was crucified next to them, associated as one. It is true that Jesus was counted or recorded as a sinner, as one of us, as it is written, “He became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21).” Even the thieves next to Christ, hanging on crosses, were reviling Him, mocking Him. However, when Jesus gave up His Spirit, dying on command, saying “Into Your hands I commit My Spirit,” a Roman centurion said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God.”
In verse 44, Pilate marveled that Jesus was already dead. The price had been paid, and Jesus decided to leave His body. Yes, He was the Son of God!
Deuteronomy 28
In this chapter we read of the blessings of obedience and the cursing for disobedience. It doesn’t take much intelligence to realize the healing and prosperity are rewards and sickness and lack are punishments. It had to take a religiously blind person to think that sickness and poverty would be God’s will for His child. Healing is ours because Jesus became the curse for us! Provision is ours because Jesus bore our sins on the cross! We are joint-heirs with Jesus, and all the blessings of redemption are ours!
