Miracles In Your Hands

“And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people…” Acts 5:12

Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit to administer the power of God in signs and wonders (Acts 10:38, Acts 2:22). Jesus told His disciples they would receive the Holy Spirit and do the same works that He did and greater (John 14:12). The Holy Spirit was poured out to everyone in the early church and continues to fill and anoint those who minister in the name of Jesus.

In Acts 5, we see that many signs and wonders were done through the hands of the apostles. In Mark 16:17-18 it says, “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; andif they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Then in Mark 16:20, “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”

We also see God’s power at work through Paul’s hands in Acts 19:11-12, “Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.” The word for miracles in verse 11 is the Greek word “dynamis” which means “an inherent power, a power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth.” We are working together with the Holy Spirit, following His lead.

The power of God is within us because the Holy Spirit is within us. The power of God flows through us as we minister to others. The Bible teaches us that God’s power flows through our hands. There are times when I have sensed it flowing through me to someone else, as if it is being drawn out of me. I believe when their heart is open to receive, the anointing will flow. God is not withholding any good thing from His children. He gave His Son to die on the cross, so we can be confident that He surely would not withhold the salvation that Jesus Christ paid for with His own blood (Romans 8:32).

The power is not our power. The power belongs to God. We must constantly work to use these signs to point people to Jesus.

Application: Read Acts 2:43, Acts 6:8, Acts 8:6-13, Acts 14:3, Acts 15:12, Romans 15:19, II and Corinthians 12:12. Go find someone that has an open heart and a need, and ask to minister the power of God to them.
