Turn Your Eyes on Jesus
“Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:8
Some things in this world are just wrong. We know Jesus is coming again, He will defeat world kingdoms, and He will rule and reign in peace. We will be able to put all the sin and effects of sin behind us. Until then, we must recognize that even though we are IN the world, we are not OF the world. Our King is coming!
Even among Christians, even though the majority is good, there are some things that are just wrong. We need to mention it because the Lord instructed us to be wise as a serpent, and innocent as a dove. Wrong teaching, false prophecy, gross sins, manipulations, and abuse do exist among Christian friends, family, the congregation, and the community. If we don’t talk about it, people can be blinded and fall into a trap.
It can be discouraging when we hear about unjust and unfair behaviors among Christians, especially when the wrong behavior is coming from a trusted, spiritual leader that is influential and loved by the people we care about. Some leaders get off track because they care about their positions, relationships, reputations, fundings, and associations more than they care about what is right in God’s eyes. Injustice usually manifests when someone wants to cover up injustice or attempt to control the people who know about the injustice. If they can’t control them, they push them out.
We must identify and discern what is unjust around us. We must try to bring correction in love. We must surround ourselves with people who live a surrendered life. If someone does not receive correction, we may have to break fellowship. We must use our voice so others will not be treated unfairly or unjustly. Most of all, we must encourage one another to keep our eyes on Jesus. He will never fail us.
God sees and knows all. He is a jealous God who wants us to be satisfied with His justice and not be discouraged by the injustice of some. Love justice, love mercy, and walk in humility with God. Amen?
Application: This world is passing away. If you have ever been discouraged by injustice in the world or among Christians, remember to look up! Jesus is Lord, and He will guide you in justice and truth.
