Ezra 1, 2
The book of Ezra begins right where 2 Chronicles leaves off, the prophecy of Jeremiah spoken in Jeremiah 25:12 and Jeremiah 29:10, concerning Israel’s return to the land after 70 years is mentioned in 2 Chronicles 36:22, 23 and Ezra 1:1, 2. Also within the last two verses of 2 Chronicles 36 and the first two verses of Ezra 1 is another prophecy concerning Cyrus king of Persia, prophesied by Isaiah in Isaiah 44:28-45:1-3, one hundred and fifty years before Cyrus was born. Powerful evidences concerning the inspiration of the word of God.
Our Bible reading today gives us a few mentions of Bible prophecy. The one that sticks out for me is the one concerning how the Roman centurion pierced Jesus side with a spear to make sure he was dead which would make breaking his legs irrelevant. In John 19:37 John cites a passage in Zechariah 12:10, It will be the revelation of this truth that will cause the nation of Israel to come to the realization that Jesus is their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10-14).
