Praise God! In our reading yesterday the enemies of God attempted to stop the building of the Temple by lying and accusing the leaders of Israel. But their scheme backfired, when God intervened by commanding no one to interrupt the progress of the building of the Temple, but also funding the whole project, including paying for all the animals that would be needed for all the sacrifices. That the kind of God we serve.
In our reading today Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him to which Peter replied three times that he did love Jesus and that Jesus should know that he loved him (John 21:15-17). Jesus then told Peter that he was going to be martyred for the cause of the gospel (John 21:17). It was earlier in the book of John that Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). Do we love Jesus? We should be daily taking up our cross.
