2 Corinthians 2

When the purpose of correction is to teach, discipline will be followed up with love, forgiveness, and restoration. This is Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. In the first letter he mentions a man that was sexually involved with his mother-in-law. He told the church to separate from the man while he was in his sin. Here Paul is telling the church to forgive, comfort, and encourage the repentant man. Paul tells the Christians, “I beg you to reinstate him in your affections and assure him of your love for him.” In verse 10 Paul talks about the importance of forgiveness, and then says, “To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions.” When we don’t make forgiveness and restoration our aim, our spiritual enemy has an advantage over us. Satan’s intentions are to divide us, separate us, and keep us from the unity of the faith. Let’s not let him win. Let’s have Jesus win through forgiveness and restoration!

Proverbs 17-18

We live in a world where people make quick assumptions based on a portion of a video clip, a shared link, a brief post, or repeated quote. Before someone learns the facts, opinion and judgment has already spread across the Internet like wildfire. The Bible encourages us to get the facts before jumping to conclusions. Not only will it improve our credibility; but it will also stop the multiplication of false information. Proverbs 18:13 “He who answers a matter before he hears the facts-it is folly and shame to him.”
