1 Corinthians 9

As Christians, we have the privilege and responsibility to tithe ten percent of our income to the church, taking on responsibility to care for the needs of our local church and leadership. When people don’t return God’s tithe and give offerings to their local church, the church is not able to function as it should. We need our leaders’ time to be dedicated to prayer, study of the Word, and ministry tasks. Paul worked hard for the churches, and in this chapter, Paul teaches that he should be compensated so that his time can be used for ministry instead of working a job. How many of you would rather Paul’s time be spent preaching, traveling and writing over making tents? However, Paul has an eternal reward for the work is was able to accomplish in his life because he served from his heart.

In addition, in order to receive results in his ministry, Paul focused on how to help people receive His message. His focus wasn’t just on what he wanted to say, but how others would understand. To the Jews, he spoke in a way Jews would receive his communication. To the Gentiles, he spoke in a way Gentiles could understand and receive his message. Corinth was a mixture of people, Jews and Greeks, so He learned how to win people. He that wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30.

Psalm 136-138

How we fulfill our destiny takes more than doing our best; it takes leaning a God who loves us. Psalm 138:8 says, “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me.” God will do the perfecting, or the completing, of the matters that concern our lives. We do our part, but to accomplish God’s plan and purpose for our lives, we need God to do His part, by our faith and through His grace.
