“May the LORD give you increase more and more, you and your children.” Psalm 115:14
Family relationships matter to God. God cares about us individually, and God cares about us as a family unit. Because God is love, God’s anointing is on unity. When you are part of a group, including the association of a family, there is strength when people combine their talents, skills, and resources. In addition, when the group includes God in their assembly, God adds His power to the group. There is power in love, and there is tremendous strength in a Christian family.
“Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12
When you are part of a family or group, you belong to them, and they belong to you. You are joined together either by blood or by marriage covenant. You are either birthed into the family, adopted into the family, or you marry into the family. In a healthy family, together you can accomplish much. You bring strength to the group, lifting each other up, so that everyone in the family gains power to do well. God’s blessing is on the family that includes Him in their company.
There is a principle found in Acts 4:23 that applies to the strength found in families and in other groups of people. Peter and John had been arrested by the religious leaders and commanded not to minister in the name of Jesus. In this verse, it says, “And being let go, they went to their own companions…” There is a principle of being part of a group that you can go to when you need strength. When Peter and John told the group what happened to them, they prayed together as one, and they asked for God’s help. When they did, the Bible says, “the place where they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”
Because of the power of love and covenant, the blessings of God are on a believing family to share with one another and those around you. There is anointing, favor, and peace. There is the presence of God in your home, and because of God’s presence, there is power available when family prays together, serves together, and builds together. If you do not have a healthy Christian family to be a part of, you can find the same blessings when you become part of the family of God in a local church.
Application: No one is meant to be isolated from others. God wants you to add your strength to one another in your family and your church family. When your family and church are strong, you are strengthened.
