Kingdom Culture of Support

Kingdom Culture of Support

“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” I John 3:18

God’s kingdom is a kingdom where we support one another. Because we know He loves us, we know He supports us. Even if we fail, when we repent, our Father is on our side, supporting us, healing us, and restoring us. He will never leave us or forsake us. A truly repentant heart will allow God to transform us and won’t take His grace for granted.

Because this is a kingdom culture, and because we are made to be like our Daddy-God, we also will desire to support one another. One way we do that is to point people to God. We aren’t always enough to meet the needs of other, but He is! Together, in prayer, we look to God to help us. We encourage each other in our faith.

We also support one another in working together to accomplish tasks. We support one another in our local churches. We tithe, give, serve, attend and speak positively to help the local church. We’re faithful with our support, staying where God has planted us. We also work together to help ministries and missionaries accomplish vision. It’s not all ministry related – we also help each other build community, help out a friend, give to charities to help the poor, share meals, help with a project, etc.

Another way we support one another is through providing care for those who are hurting or grieving. We pray for healing together, in agreement, believing for God’s power to bring change in our physical bodies. We also put our actions to our love by rallying around one another to help with meals, be by a bedside, or pick up the slack while they are down.

We also support one another through times of restoration. Someone might be going through therapy, another through rehabilitation, and others recovering from abuse or trauma. We don’t want them to feel alone or condemned. Our support shows them they have worth to God and to us. Jesus came to bring restoration, and we can be part of that restoration process.

Even in the world, people often support one another; however, in the kingdom of God, let’s rise up as individuals, as families, and as congregations, to meet needs when crisis hits. Let’s show the tangible love of God, not just to each other, but to the world around us.

Application: Are you serving in your local church or a ministry? Are you serving someone in need? A single mom, an elderly person, a widow, or someone with a disability? If not, prayerfully consider being a support to an individual, a church, or another group.
